My Deadliest Catch

Of course my husband is my favorite catch, but when it comes to good TV and dreamy alpha males, there's nothing like the fisherman of the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch." Filmed in the Bering Sea, this season's episodes feature a hellish ice storm during the opilio crab hunt that threatens the whole fleet of muscular and hard-working men.

Inspired by the men, and the fresh seafood, I'd like to take an Alaskan vacation, but visit a more moderate setting in Anchorage, where the Hotel Captain Cook offers views of Mt. McKinley, easy access to the waterfront and Portage Glacier. While it's only 1,100 miles from Dutch Harbor, favored port of the crab fleet (no less than six ferry rides on MapQuest), I think I'd rather do my Bering Sea-faring from a cruise ship.

The Old Course in Scotland!

I am planning a once in a lifetime trip with my Dad for next summer.  Its always been a dream of mine to play golf with him at St. Andrews in Scotland, the home of golf.  The place to play is the Old Course at St. Andrews.  I hear its a lottery system to play which is why we are planning well in advance.  We are also hoping to stay at the St. Andrews Bay Golf Resort & Spa.  If anyone has any travel tips (or golf tips), please pass them along.

Fact or Fiction??

I couldn’t sleep last night for some odd reason so I was wide awake in bed for hours, surfing through the best of 200 channels Direct TV has to offer. At some point around 2 am, the remote fell onto the floor and so it was fate that the SciFi channel would be on for the rest of the night.  They were playing a documentary on the elusive Himalayan shaggy man-beast known as the Yeti or aka Abominable Snowman. According to many local accounts and stories, there are two types of Yeti – a yak eating and man eating species!

I wonder if any guests at the 5 star Yak and Yeti Hotel in Nepal have had any of their own sightings? That's surely something that'll keep you up at nights!

Destination: Brangelina

Celebrity news junkie that I am, I confess I never would have considered Namibia had Brad and Angelina not retreated there for their baby's arrival. With recent news of my own that Bryan and I will have our own Brariel (it was better than Aryan) come December, I wonder if I should be checking into the Kalahari Sands Hotel's holiday availability. Let's hope there's room at the inn.

Yes Mike, of course I would break this news here - who are we kidding?

Princess...Leigh of Dubai?

It looks like a palace, in fact, its a replica, on an exclusive beach, in a rediscovered fortress...I may or may not have died and gone to heaven. I could literally feel like an Arabian princess, like Jasmine from Aladdin. The Palace At One and Only Royal Mirage in Dubai is an example of Arabian architecture and all the fantasy that comes with it, aka my deep desire to be an Arabian princess and live in a palace from the storybooks.

Food and Aspen…Who knew?

According to my Daily Candy email, Aspen is the place to be this year June 16 to 18 for the Food & Wine Classic. It is supposedly very exclusive and tickets are sparse so check out the website Classic in Aspen. And, don’t forget to look on hotelbook.com for a great deal on a hotel, the Limelite Lodge looks great.
