Of course my husband is my favorite catch, but when it comes to good TV and dreamy alpha males, there's nothing like the fisherman of the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch." Filmed in the Bering Sea, this season's episodes feature a hellish ice storm during the opilio crab hunt that threatens the whole fleet of muscular and hard-working men.
Inspired by the men, and the fresh seafood, I'd like to take an Alaskan vacation, but visit a more moderate setting in Anchorage, where the Hotel Captain Cook offers views of Mt. McKinley, easy access to the waterfront and Portage Glacier. While it's only 1,100 miles from Dutch Harbor, favored port of the crab fleet (no less than six ferry rides on MapQuest), I think I'd rather do my Bering Sea-faring from a cruise ship.
