Labor Day Travellin'

CNN has an interesting video blog (Labor Day Travel on the right playlist) this week that goes over some good tips for traveling over Labor Day weekend, and for Fall Travel in general.  Pauline Frommer (of guidebook fame) relays some cool sites worth checking out when planning your next vacation.  She mentions airportparking.com, flightstats.com, gaspricewatch.com, and travelzoo.com, all great sites to help you arrange a parking space, check up on your flight, be aware of gas expenses, and find great travel deals, respectively.  The next step is finding a decent hotel to stay at, and with these boutique hotels in Miami, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and New York, planning your end of summer adventure has never been easier.

UK Bank Holiday Weekend - Last Minute Deals

For those of you based in the UK, it looks like the forecast is sunshine this bank holiday weekend! I have been looking to escape and have found some great deals for hotels in the UK that are still available on hotelbook.com. In London, the 4-star Apex City of London Hotel has rooms available from £99. If you are looking for something more relaxing then the Menzies Flitwick Manor also looks like a good option. It is a classical Georgian Manor, set in parkland and has rooms this weekend from £130. Other options that I have found are The Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate (£115) and The Royal Albion in Brighton (£120). Whatever you do, enjoy the sunshine this weekend... it has been a long time coming!

EuroBasket in Spain

Think that all of the great NBA basketball players come from the west side of the pond?  Think again.  Great athletes like Dirk Nowitski, Tony Parker, and Andrei Kirilenko all got their start in Europe, and you can see the next generation in action at the European Basketball competition, which will take place this year in Spain from September 3rd to the 16th.  If you're considering a holiday to Spain, mix it up with a little basketball at EuroBasket07, and stay at great hotelbook properties in Madrid, Sevilla, Mallorca, Alicante, and Granada.

Hop on the train we're going to the wine country

I have always wanted to check out the wine country in Napa, California, and I finally convinced my husband to go with me. I've never been to the area, so I went on hotelbook.com to try and find a good hotel. The Silverado Resort really caught my attention. The hotel is right in the heart of Napa, sitting on some truly beautiful land. I wanted to try wine tasting, and as luck would have it, I found the Napa Valley Wine Train, where you get to tour the wine country while dining and drinking fine wines. There is also Balloons Above the Valley, where we can travel in hot air balloons to see the countryside from above. I am really interested in experiencing new things in Napa and am looking for suggestions. There are so many wine tastings and other activities, I don't know where to begin. If anyone has any reccommendations, please let me know!

Novel NY Museums

If you're looking for a dose of culture on your holiday, consider a trip to New York, home to hundreds of museums.  As this Fodor's article mentions, there are a lot of museums in the Big Apple that people tend to overlook.  Here at hotelbook, you can stay at unique boutique hotels nearby some of these cool museums including the Skyscraper Museum, El Museo del Barrio, National Museum of the American Indian, and the Sony Wonder Technology Lab.
