Haunted Hotelbook Hotels: The Final Act

Halloween is less than a week away, so it's time for one last installment of Haunted Hotelbook Hotels.  This time around, we recommend the Scandinavia Hotel, which is located in one of Europe's most haunted cities, Venice.  This property is located right next to the famous Bridge of Sighs which is known for being the source of audible groans, whispers, and sighs of all the prisoners who once passed through on the way to Doge's Palace.  These spirits are known to carry on their activity next door at the hotel.

Heading Down Under?  Be sure not to miss the Riverside Hotel Southbank in Brisbane, the most haunted city in Australia.  Although the ghosts don't roam inside hotel, they reside just across the river at City Hall, the most haunted building in town.  Three spooks routinely make their presence known here.  These ghosts include an elegant lady who roams the halls, a maintenance man who regularly rides the elevator he perished in, and an American sailor who was stabbed in the downstairs tea room.

There's certainly a great deal of Haunted Hotelbook Hotels across the globe.  We hope that you have the chance to check them out for yourself, and please add a comment and let us know if you come across anything otherworldly!  Here's a list of the haunted hotels mentioned in previous blogs.

  • London Elizabeth Hotel
  • Petit Palace Alcala Torre Hotel
  • Hotel Monteleone
  • Menger Hotel
  • The Edgewater
  • Stanley Hotel
  • Plough Hotel

Haunted Hotelbook Hotels: Part 2

Is your morbid curiosity still thirsting for more haunted hotels?  There's plenty more hotelbook hotels that are known for their otherworldly visitors.  Take the London Elizabeth Hotel for instance, a property that is know for frequent sightings of a Victorian gentleman ghost and his lady.  Just recently, a traveler passing through left a drawing at the front desk of the ghostly apparation she saw, which happened to match the exact description the hotel owner has come to know so well.

Making your way to Spain? If you'd like to commune with ghosts but don't want them out in the hotel hallway, try the Petit Palace Alcala Torre Hotel in Madrid, a swanky hotel that is only two blocks away from one of the most haunted places in the city, the Palacio de Linares.  This 19th century buiding houses a family of ghosts whose voices have supposedly been recorded by parapsychologists.  If you go, keep an ear out, but be sure to review a little español if you're not a speaker!

For those traveling to the States soon, try the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, which is famous for ghostly children that play in its hallways and a restaurant door that routinely opens and closes (despite having been locked by the staff!).  Another American hotel known for its ghostly residents is the Menger Hotel in San Antonio, TX, which is the home to 32 different spooks!  Read more about ghost sightings at this property that include Teddy Roosevelt, Sallie the chambermaid, and Captain Richard King here.

I'm feeling lucky!

I decided it has been a while since I have done any gambling and since the only place I have gambled is Las Vegas, I decided to try something new. So I started looking on hotelbook.com for other gambling hotels and came across the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. It has all the entertainment of a Hard Rock plus the benefits of a 4-star Las Vegas-style casino. I have a feeling I am going to be spending a lot of time in the casino, but I would also like to get out and see the city a little bit. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I heard the beach is a must, but what else would I regret not seeing? Anything will help!

Haunted Hotelbook Hotels

Have you ever seen a ghost?  Have you always found a way to convince yourself you were just seeing things?  Now that Halloween is right around the corner, your chance to put your beliefs to the test has arrived once again.  This time, consider a wide variety of hotelbook hotels that are known for their spectral guests.

For example, Seattle's only waterfront hotel, The Edgewater, is known for not only being a frequent stop for the Beatles, but for also being a frequent residence of two friendly ghosts.  Another hotel to explore is the Stanley Hotel, the hotel that inspired Stephen King to write "The Shining".  Have you got what it takes to stay in the hotel's most haunted room, #418?  One last property worth mentioning is the Plough Hotel, an English boutique hotel that is found on the Scottish border and is known for its ghostly tenants, the late landlady and housekeeper who passed away back in 1945.  Stay tuned to this space for more Halloween travel ideas to come, including more haunted hotels in Europe and the U.S.

Holiday to St. Petersburg

We've all grown up with a bit of Russian influence in our daily lives, whether it was a Faberge egg we saw at a local musuem, reading Crime and Punishment for school, watching the Nutcracker over Christmas, or viewing the famous arms-crossed-legs-kicking dance that shows up in cartoons, movies, and late-night bars across the globe.

If you're like me and would like to discover what Russia is really all about for yourself, consider a holiday to St. Petersburg, also known as the "Window to Europe".  Hotelbook is currently offering great deals on authentic hotels that are as unique as this young city with and old-world look and feel.  Designed after the canal system of Venice and Amsterdam, St. Petersburg is the home of the Hermitage Musuem, Peter the Great, and over 1,000 bridges.  I hope to make a trip soon.  In the meantime, is there anything else anyone can recommend seeing?
