Hello, and thanks for tuning into the latest Hotelbook® Podcast.
On this episode, we will be providing an overview of one of the most exciting cities in the world, Las Vegas. Established just over 100 years ago, this city’s name means “The Meadows”, because during the 1800’s a large underground network of artesian wells supported extensive green pastures across the Las Vegas Valley.
But what started as a wind-swept oasis in the Southwestern desert soon developed into the largest US city built in the 20th century, due to consistent economic growth, business development, and immigration. Nowadays, Las Vegas is one of the world’s top vacation spots, and it is one of the best places for entertainment, shopping, & gambling around.
Las Vegas earned its nickname “Entertainment Capital of the World” from decade upon decade of top notch performances from some of the world’s greatest talents, from the Rat Pack days of Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Junior to current legends like Celine Dion and the magical genius of Penn & Teller.
The high quality entertainment of Vegas can be found at many great hotels, such as Caesars Palace. Famous for attracting some of Vegas’ greatest acts; catch performances at Caesars from the likes of Elton John, Jerry Seinfeld, Bette Midler, Cher, and many more. Inspired by the splendor of Ancient Rome, this luxurious property was built with the idea in mind that “every guest should feel like a Caesar”, and appropriately so, the property features first-class service, top-of-the-line amenities, and a “Garden of the Gods”, a 4.5 acre pool complex with an accompanying 23,000 square foot fitness center and spa.
A second property that epitomizes the Las Vegas entertainment experience is the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, an adult-themed resort that is based around the Brazil Carnival celebration. Featuring dancing revues, parade floats, late night dance clubs, the Masquerade Village shopping center, 15 different restaurants (including the highly-rated McFadden’s and Rub BBQ), the Rio is one of the liveliest hotels in all of Las Vegas. Bring your dance moves to the 1,500 seat Samba Theatres and your lucky charms to the 120,000 square foot casino. It’s time for Carnival!
Also, at the Flamingo Las Vegas, experience a unique Caribbean atmosphere, where you can observe a large wildlife habitat set amongst palm trees, waterfalls, lush foliage, small islands, and tropical flowers. Laying stake as the first Las Vegas strip hotel and casino, the Flamingo is a city favorite and features a 77,000 square foot casino and hosts great performers like Toni Braxton, George Wallace, and John Edward. Plus, the Flamingo boasts 3,545 beautifully appointed rooms contained within six towers (including GO rooms, unique accommodations that feature top-of-the-line luxurious amenities, stereo, television, and linens).
Next, another of Vegas’ big draws is its world-famous shopping destinations, where you can find a wide variety of unique, designer, and boutique shops that carry items from all corners of the globe. For instance, the Fremont Street Experience is an inviting pedestrian walkway in the heart of the city, where you’ll find a wide variety of boutique shops and kiosks all located nearby the largest big screen on the planet, where concerts, shows, and all kinds of high-definition imagery keep your heart pounding.
As well, don’t miss Le Boulevard at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, a unique shopping area lined with cobblestones, brass lamps, and intimate boutique shops. Get lost in the City of Lights while never leaving Vegas, and discover great crepes, kitchenware, clothing, clocks, and more while you walk around the Eiffel Tower and the Palace of Versailles lobby. While staying at the Paris Las Vegas, choose from over 2,900 inviting rooms, all designed with the elegance of Paris, with custom European furniture, marble bathrooms, and spacious beds.
Plus, the Asian-themed Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino is a top-notch Vegas resort that is within close distance to the best shopping on the Las Vegas Strip. Easily recognizable for its Japanese temple stylings, Imperial Palace features a full-service spa, expansive gaming floor, fine restaurants (like Embers, which was voted one of the five most romantic Vegas dining spots), and traditionally furnished guestrooms that feature state-of-the-art amenities. Also, be sure not to miss the Auto Collections at the Imperial Palace, where you can view over a 100 classic and exotic automobiles that have graced the silver screen and international raceways across the globe.
While you’re in Vegas, make sure you take time to explore the wide variety of casinos in town; after all, these establishments are what truly put the city on the map. Try your luck in a game of craps, blackjack, poker and much more. Each casino offers a unique gambling experience, and every roll of the dice could mean big stakes for a lucky hand. Whether you choose to call or stay or hit or fold is up to you, but with so many casino options at hand, it might be a bit difficult to know when’s the right time to hold off!
If you’re looking for a unique casino experience, we recommend the Harrah’s Hotel & Casino, a large luxurious hotel that offers some of the best gambling in all of Vegas. Discover both traditional and unconventional games at this property including Let It Ride, Caribbean Stud Poker, Baccarat, Roulette, Pai Gow Poker, Keno, Slots, and more, with game space spanning over 105,000 square feet. Also, while staying at Harrah’s enjoy a full-service European spa and seven different specialty restaurants to choose from.
Another great spot to sample Las Vegas gambling is the Bally’s Las Vegas, which features over 67,000 square feet of highly-rated casino space. Plus, this Art Deco hotel features a 13,106 square foot health spa with 18 treatment rooms, a large outdoor pool with a 30-person spa tub, and two 26 story towers that contain elegantly-appointed grand suites, deluxe, and classic guest rooms.
