Tenjin Matsuri - 24th & 25th July 2009
With more than 1,000 years of history, the Tenjin Matsuri is known as the "World's Greatest Boat Festival." Offering traditional Japanese music, theatrical puppet shows and parades on both land and river, the Tenjin Matsuri is a chance to experience Japan’s history on a grand scale. At dusk boats are set alight, followed by hypnotic hand-clapping. This festival is a way to experience a slice of Japan's history come to life.
Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival - 8th August 2009 Set near the Yodo river area, the Niniwa Yodogawa Fetival is one of the largest fireworks displays in Japan. With beautiful names such as peony, Chrysanthemum and waterfalls, these fireworks are sure to be a hit with all spectators. Hotebook tip: Arrive early to bag a great spot, and bring an umbrella just in case!
